Update: This is Present Karen checking in. We did it. We finished all 3 parts. Proud of you. But mostly me. Check them out: Part 1 & Part 3
Hey friends,
It’s that time of the week again. A new newsletter! Yayyyyy. But before we continue, please make sure you’ve read Part 1 of the comic. Otherwise Part 2 just wouldn’t make sense because the story’s so layered and intricate (No it’s not but read it anyway).
To further delay our fun, here’s some more housekeeping stuff:
✍️ All these posts are basically the result of me trying to stave off my phone addiction by journaling, which led to so many ideas for new posts that I’ve now replaced my phone addiction with manic posting across multiple platforms. Is this better? Hard to say. It’s been really fun so far, but I know the pace is unsustainable. That’s why I’m planning a hiatus in a few months. You’re probably like, Um. But you just got here?!?! Yes. Yes I did. Don’t worry. I’m thinking it’ll be closer to the holidays or something, which is typically when I hibernate until I re-emerge in the new year a totally different person. For like a day. In any case, for now I’m riding the manic creative juices while I have them.
✍️ In more exciting news, I dropped off some of my self-published autobio comic (or pinkie up while holding a monocle *graphic memoir*) books at Desert Island in Brooklyn. I’ve always wanted to drop books off at indie bookstores since the beginning of time but never had the inventory. Then once I did have the inventory I was too scared. But duuuuude. I did it. I can’t wait to continue harassing unsuspecting brick and mortars to bury my books under a pile of books so their fossilized remains can be unearthed years later in a post-apocalyptic barren future none of us will live to see. Now that I’ve told you my dream, what’s yours???
✍️ All the examples you’re about to see are true. I have so many stories (which is why I broke the rule of threes and included FOUR examples like a barbarian). But I’m only giving you the best of the best.
✍️ These stories are mostly years-old. I generally don’t include things that just happened unless they’re topical or hilarious. I’ve processed them all, which is how I was able to write and draw them without stabbing my eyes out.
✍️ Is it wise to talk shit? No. But who cares about being wise? That’s what they tell you to keep you from making interesting stuff. It’s how we end up with essays with forced happy endings—we don’t wanna look mean or petty or whatever. But those are all very human emotions and frankly, I’m too old and the world’s too on fire to dwell too much on that stuff, as long as we handle the subject matter with care.
Without further ado, here’s “Weird Part 2”!
Part 3 coming soon.
Update: Again, Present Karen being a total Karen and making this about me. We finished this series and you may find Part 1 & Part 3 at those cutie links.
