HALLOWEENCOMIX-BER NO. 2 👻 III: if you're the imposer, that is
For Halloween I’m making comix about my personal monsters. This is part 3 of “Ghost,” a story about all the people I’ve ghosted. Check out part 1 and part 2 and part 4.
HMFF.
Since it’s only been three days since my last post, not much has happened since. Actually wait. I figured out our Halloween costume for the year. It’ll be pretty basic but cute, which is all my brain can handle right now.
Other than that, Franco and I went to Nordstrom after running some errands and wow. Let me tell you. This department store thing—have you ever been? I think I’m over the whole unlimited choice via internet thing and crawling back to the whole curated by professional buyers and fashionable people thing. Plus, there were bars! Coffee shops! A restaurant! I am shooketh. It’s been a long time since I’ve hung out in one of those, I believe they’re called, “brick” “and” “mortar” “stores,” and regrets! I have a lot of them.
OK, process notes:
✍️ Like all the Halloween comix, this one was made with Procreate on an iPad.
✍️ Some of the letters might be a little small and require some zoom, which is annoying but such is life. I’ll keep it in mind for the next ones. Everything’s a learning experience here at farts&letters.
✍️ Though I’ve known a lot of imposers, this comic is so specific I can’t pretend it’s a composite of people. It was a very bizarre experience that truly creeped me out.
✍️ I attracted a lot of imposers in my 20s, when I was a lot less discerning about friendships. I then spent my 30s shedding them, and am now a lot better about ghosting them early (they unfortunately are ever-present and exist at all ages). Unsurprisingly, there hasn’t been a moment I’ve thought to myself: I miss those people. So, if you’re dealing with a few imposers in your life and are scared to cut them off for fear of losing so-called friends, just do it. It’s better to have a few friends than a bunch of people with stalker vibes in your circle. Plus, shedding the imposers makes room for people you actually vibe with.
And with that, here’s the next monster I’ve ghosted: The Imposer.
This month I’m making comix about all my personal monsters. Most of them are composites of a lot of different people. Some of them are not. The horror’s in figuring out who’s who.
🧛🏻♀️ TEETH: Meet my very first monster. The dentist.
